Succession

This show is corporate culture 101 but on a 1000. The Roys are the worst family in tv history. From the broken family dynamic to getting insight into how the 1 percenters do business this show is 3 seasons of betrayal and I loved it.

One thing that was a little off-putting at first was the way decided to film it. This show has a lot of quick zoom-ins similar to how the office filmed their episodes minus the confessionals. They also used awkward silence to their advantage during those moments to raise the tension and reflect on what happens in real-life conversations.

I loved how all the characters/players were so different in nature and motivation because that lead to impactful moments throughout the series. It was reminiscent of Game of Thrones in that way. Especially because everything always leads back to getting to sit on the throne or in the case of this series getting the job. Climbing the corporate ladder.

Three siblings in a three-way tie for CEO. With a series like Succession, a show about wins and losses the biggest blessing is that they can always use the job as a plot device to turn things up. The ability to subtlety name drop was super key to keeping the show grounded in reality without pigeonholing themselves in a world we can't recognize keeping things interesting and fun.

Honestly, I don't know what to expect for season 4 because of how open-ended the third season ended but I can tell you confidently I will be watching. When I realized this show was all about ambition and fulfillment it changed everything because what does “family” mean in those moments?

What kept me invested was the frustration of being a fly on the wall and witnessing a “family” try so hard to win at something by tearing each other down just for them to realize they never really had a shot. It was a crazy trip, to say the least, and I can't wait for season 4 to drop.
